  • As a member of the User Experience Design team, I’ve worked with cross-functional teams to write copy and help design user experiences that are seamless, intuitive, and on-brand.

  • Supported marketing goals by leading copy efforts on email marketing, direct mail, website content, blog, and website projects.

  • As Allstate rolled out a refreshed brand, I’ve assisted in updating existing creative to reflect new brand standards, in particular, a more contemporary, conversational, and witty voice and tone.

  • I’ve continued to support marketing and customer experience efforts for Esurance, which is an Allstate brand.

Senior Copywriter, Esurance

  • Developed content and strategic direction for the Esurance blog and website, including managing content distribution channels like Outbrain, and creating and managing editorial calendars.

  • Wrote advertising, website, and social media copy for high-profile and high-revenue sponsorship campaigns, including the Super Bowl, South by Southwest, and Major League Baseball, among others.

  • Acted as creative lead for social media content development, creating dramatic improvements in engagements across channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and more.

  • Led test-and-learn efforts for content marketing campaigns to continually grow and refine content strategy, including optimizing conversions and click-through rates as well as cost-per-click.

  • Wrote, edited, and proofread UX copy for quote and purchase pages.

  • Collaborated with cross-functional partners to create compelling, on-brand messaging for product launches, including Canada homeowners insurance, per-mile car insurance, and descriptions of auto coverages.

  • Led efforts to rebrand customer communications, including email, site content, and policy management.

  • Mentored copywriters to create on-brand copy on everything from attention-grabbing headlines to educational insurance details.

  • Worked with internal communications team to ensure every associate and recruiting communication reinforced the Esurance brand.

  • Provided editorial feedback in creative review meetings with marketing and executive teams.

  • Lead the ideation of concepts for seasonal campaigns and large-scale brand development.

  • Worked with executives in marketing, merchandising, and operations to ensure copy met all organizational objectives.

  • Developed processes to streamline workflows within the copy team and the larger marketing department.

  • Promoted from proofreader to lead copywriter, and eventually to copy manager.

 

Online Editor & Publisher's Assistant, Sculptural Pursuit magazine

​August 2006 - November 2009

 

  • Wrote numerous feature- and department-length articles on artists and other art-related subjects.

  • Developed article ideas for contributor and staff assignments, and helped other staff writers develop their ideas.

  • Edited articles submitted by contributing and staff writers for accuracy, organization, clarity, grammar and composition.

  • Published a monthly e-zine, Creative Wisdom, which required editing of 500- to 800-word articles for grammar, composition and clarity.  Created editorial calendar, managed contributing writers, and did all photo editing and design.

  • Redeveloped magazine’s website and online store from scratch using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, which increased site traffic, improved interactivity and navigation, and improved the general visual design.

  • Expanded the online and social media presence of the magazine.

  • Designed custom advertisements and ad templates for multiple clients using Photoshop and InDesign.
